Essie Splash of Grenadine – is a midtone pink with a slight red-based purple undertone creme polish. It was originally released in Essie Resort Collection 2010 but has now made itself as part of Essie’s regular line up. I will be honest, when I first bought it I wore the heck out of it and then it sat in my collection for over a year before using it again. But as of right now, it is a rediscovered love – I have worn this polish for FOUR manicures out of my past eight manicures. As soon as I would change it, I HAD to put it on again – I wore it as a pedicure as well for the better part of the month so far and I love it either way.
The formula is amazing and while it does need three coats to be opaque it does not chip at all – I start seeing visible nail line around 5 days of wear – which is AMAZING to me! As the heat is at it’s all time high during the summer days thus far I have not been as obsessive to change my polishes often so this has been the perfect solution for a manicure and pedicure. It dried quickly and the three coats of polish leaves you with a shiny finish which kind of looks like a top coat and this is why I have been in LOVE with Essie for the longest time.
The colour is gorgeous and is similar to OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender & Zoya Perrie and while those two polishes are amongst my favourites as well – this one has more dimension to it. It is glossier and lasts a longer time without chipping and it might be more accessible to purchase seeing as Essie polishes are available in a variety of drugstores.
I was disappointed with the color when I first bought this. I thought it was dull and kinda old ladyish. Loved the gloss and application and I actually picked it out of my collection and thought to try it again last night. I didn’t but after reading this, I WILL. I’m gonna try 3 coats bc last time I only did two.
hey taryn, yeah i completely understand – same here wasn’t too much of a fan when i first bought it but now…i’m almost halfway down the bottle. I think the trick is definitely 3 coats of polish. SO HAPPY that you are trying it out again, let me know if it disappoints or its a rediscovered love in your collection.
