China Glaze Ingrid

China Glaze Ingrid – is a dark ‘hot chocolate’ taupe infused with micro gold shimmer and has a slight greyish undertone in indoor lighting. This polish was released in China Glaze Vintage Vixen Fall 2010 Collection and was one of the more popular shades at the time as ‘greige’ colours was the trendy thing back then. Full disclosure – I bought it back in 2010 but didn’t get around to wearing it until last fall, hence this baby sat in my draw (along with other polishes as well) untouched completely forgotten. The reason is simple, I like the colour but I’m not sure if the colour likes me in return!

These are the kind of colours I think tend to look fantastic on everyone but myself! Despite that I still really enjoy wearing it in the Fall time as a dark nude and for a polish that I think doesn’t agree with me, I have gotten a lot of compliments on it. To me it`s the more `hot coco`version of OPI You Don`t Know Jacques which is another polish I have a love-hate relationship with.

The gold shimmer in this polish actually makes me love it more than the OPI YDKJ polish – it gives it more dimension and the colour doesn`t look as flat on my skin tone. It took two coats to achieve an opaque manicure and the wear time on this specific polish was actually amazing, lasted around 5 days with tip wear but no visible chips. I have made it no secret that I don`t like formula of China Glaze polishes all that much but this one was one of the best ones I have tried formula wise to date!

While I do like the polish, would I consider it a must have..hmm no but I strongly believe if you have similar skin tone to myself and you have had a hard time finding the right dark taupe polish – this is definitely one to try out! For myself, I have been enjoying wearing my sweaters and scarfs with this polish for a nice, neutral mood for Fall.
