Deborah Lippmann Cleopatra in New York

Hey everyone, so I have been wanting to post about this polish the same day I bought it just didn’t get the time – I am SO IN LOVE with it, just can’t seem to put it down, I have worn it three times since buying it, in fact I am wearing this right now while typing.

So a little back ground before showing this gorgeous polish, first – I LOVE Ancient Egyptian history (since I was a kid) and had the biggest obsession with Cleopatra not so much Mark Anthony or Caesar but  only on the lady herself! Ask me anything! I know everything there is to know about her, read every book and I watched every Discovery show on her. Second, I ADORE anything black & gold, that combination looks really good on my skin tone and I have always naturally been drawn to it for some reason……so when I saw Deborah Lippmann’s release of Cleopatra in New York, coupled with the fact that it was black & gold glitter combination – this HAD to be mine, I did not care about the price point!

Have a look at my new love & obsession…..deborah lippmann cleopatra in new york

Deborah Lippmann ‘Cleopatra in New York’ – is comprised of a TON of GOLD multi-sized hexagonal glitter particles infused within a black jelly base. This polish was released in Deborah Lippmann’s Holiday 2012 Collection so it’s still available for purchase and I am even thinking about buying a back up!

The manicure you are looking at is one coat of Nicole by OPI Razzle Dazzler which is a glossy black creme polish and ONE coat of Deborah Lippmann’s Cleopatra in New York – just look at how chunky those glitter particles are for only ONE coat of polish. I always use a black base for glitter polishes like this, just makes the layering element easier and you can see the gold particles better!

I can definitely understand why Deborah Lippmann is a favourite amongst nail junkies – I have so many more on my wish list now. They are sooo worth the price, well this one in particular lol. I know many critics would argue, just layer any gold over black would yield a similar result but let me tell you – ..it’s not easy to get this level of jaw dropping gorgeousness in a bottle of nail polish. And I have layered many black/gold glitter manicures in my time and NONE compare to this!!!

The dry time was decent and this is what it looks like without a top coat, can you imagine how gorgeous it looks with it?! I am so in love with this polish – just looking at it on my blog makes me happy lol. I love the way the glitter looks like the night sky – this is by far one of my favourite polishes ever in my collection!!
